Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission
The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission was launched via video conferencing on 27th September 2021 with the aim of enhancing the accessibility and equity of health services. The mission seeks to utilize IT and related technologies to reinforce existing health systems with a ‘citizen-centric’ approach. Its vision is to establish a nationwide digital health ecosystem that facilitates universal health coverage in an efficient, accessible, inclusive, affordable, timely, and secure manner. The mission is anticipated to enhance the efficiency, effectiveness, and transparency of health services. It will empower individuals to choose between public and private healthcare services, while healthcare professionals will gain improved access to patients' medical histories, enabling them to deliver better care.
Health ID
As part of the mission, individuals are encouraged to create a Health ID to streamline the identification process across healthcare providers. To generate a Universal Health ID (UHID), the system gathers essential information about the individual, such as demographic details, location, family/relationship information, and contact details. The Health ID will serve as a unique identifier, enabling authentication and facilitating the secure sharing of health records with multiple healthcare systems and stakeholders, but only with the individual's informed consent.

Healthcare Professionals Registry (HPR)
Under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, a comprehensive database of healthcare professionals from both modern and traditional medical systems will be established. By registering in the Healthcare Professionals Registry (HPR), healthcare providers will become part of India's digital health ecosystem.

Health Facility Registry (HFR)
Similar to the Healthcare Professionals Registry (HPR), the Health Facility Registry (HFR) serves as a comprehensive database of healthcare facilities. It will encompass both private and public establishments, including clinics, hospitals, diagnostic laboratories, imaging centers, pharmacies, and more. The registry will enable healthcare facilities to integrate into India's Digital Health Ecosystem.

Health Records (PHR)
A Personal Health Record (PHR) is an individual's electronic medical record that adheres to nationally recognized interoperability standards. It is managed, shared, and controlled by the individual, with data collected from multiple sources. A key feature of the PHR is that the individual retains full control over their information. The Personal Health Record System (PHR) allows individuals to manage comprehensive details about their healthcare. This includes a longitudinal record encompassing health data, lab reports, discharge summaries, and treatment details from one or multiple healthcare facilities.
